Instrumental Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a set of handheld instruments we use to break down the scar tissue and fascial restrictions in your soft tissues. This includes your muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves and fascia. Fascia is a fibrous web of tissue that supports and protects all of our muscles and organs. Think of fascia as a never-ending 3D spider’s web that connects our entire body.

It is applied using instruments that are usually made of stainless steel with bevelLed edges and contours that can conform to different body anatomical locations and allows for deeper penetration. It is used for the detection and treatment of soft tissue disorders.
